What does the Cartylabs Checkout app do?
Cartylabs Checkout adds native UI extensions to your Shopify checkout — smart upsells at the order summary, a shipping & rewards progress bar, shipping protection, gift wrap, payment & trust icons, Trustpilot social proof, promotional banners, custom order notes, conditional T&C checkboxes, and full branding control on Plus. It is built entirely on Shopify's Checkout UI Extensibility platform — no scripts, no theme edits.
Which Shopify plans support which checkout features?
Extensions on the Checkout page, Thank You page, Order Status page, and Post-Purchase work on any Shopify plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus) that has Checkout Extensibility enabled. Checkout Branding (custom CSS, unlimited branding profiles, advanced scripts) requires Shopify Plus.
Will checkout extensions slow down my checkout?
No. Extensions are built on Shopify's native Checkout UI Extensibility platform and run in a sandboxed environment optimized for performance. They add 0 ms of measurable checkout latency, no external scripts, and no impact on Lighthouse.
Does it work with my Shopify theme?
Yes — checkout runs as native Shopify UI extensions, meaning it lives inside Shopify's checkout, not your storefront theme. There are no theme files to edit and no compatibility concerns regardless of which theme you use.
Can I show different content on the Checkout, Thank You, and Order Status pages?
Yes. Each buyer-journey stage has its own independent configuration. You can show completely different banners, recommendations, and rewards on each page.
How many rules can I create per extension?
Product Recommendations: 25 rules. Rewards Progress Bar: 10 rules. Banners: 10 rules. Terms & Conditions: 10 rules. Post-Purchase Upsell: 10 rules. Rules are evaluated in priority order and the first match fires.
Can I target customers by location, language, or cart contents?
Yes. Conditions support cart total, products in the order, customer country, customer language, and customer tags. Layer multiple conditions per rule for precise targeting.
Do I need to create discount codes for the rewards progress bar?
No. When you save a rewards rule with discount milestones, the app automatically creates a Shopify discount function that applies at checkout when the customer hits the milestone. No manual codes needed.
Can I preview extensions before publishing?
Yes. Every block is configured in the Shopify Checkout Editor with a live preview of exactly how the extension will look before you push to production. Test configurations safely before going live.
Can I use Cartylabs alongside other Shopify checkout apps?
Yes. Because Cartylabs uses Shopify's native checkout UI extensions, it co-exists with any other app on the same platform. You manage which blocks appear, and in which order, directly from the Shopify Checkout Editor.
What is the difference between Pro and Plus Pro?
Pro includes all checkout and post-purchase extensions for any Shopify plan with Checkout Extensibility (Basic and above). Plus Pro adds Plus-only features: full checkout branding/custom CSS, unlimited branding profiles, advanced scripts, dedicated CSM and SLA-backed support.
Post-purchase upsells
How do post-purchase upsells work?
After a customer completes payment, Cartylabs shows a one-click upsell on the Thank You page. The customer accepts with a single tap — their payment method is already on file, so there's no card re-entry. Accepted items are added as a new order on the same payment.
Will post-purchase offers hurt my checkout conversion?
No. The offer appears after payment is complete, so it cannot hurt your primary checkout funnel. Every accepted offer is pure incremental revenue with zero downside risk.
Where can I show post-purchase offers?
Two placements: the Thank You page (the moment after payment — highest intent, lowest friction) and the Order Status page (every time the shopper returns to track their order, you can surface a contextual follow-up offer).
Which Shopify plans support post-purchase upsells?
Any Shopify plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus) with Checkout Extensibility enabled. No Plus required.
How do I trigger the right offer for the right customer?
Rule-based targeting lets you fire offers by what they bought, cart total, customer country, language, customer tag, or first-time vs repeat. Up to 10 rules per page, evaluated in priority order.

From the dashboard, open Cart Drawer → Style to control colors, fonts, spacing, layout of upsells, and the rewards bar. Custom HTML/CSS is supported on the Growth plan and above.
What happens when a shopper clicks add-to-cart?
Three configurable behaviors: open the slide-out cart drawer, redirect to the cart page, or send straight to checkout. Configure per feature under Button/Basic Settings.
Does the drawer support promo codes and auto-discounts?
Yes. Shoppers enter codes inside the drawer with instant validation (no page reload), and Cartylabs surfaces auto-applied discounts as line items so the value is always visible.
How does the free-shipping progress bar work?
The shipping bar shows real-time progress toward thresholds you define. Combine it with rewards milestones to unlock gifts and stacked discounts as the cart grows ($50, $75, $100+).
Is the cart drawer mobile responsive?
Fully. The drawer adapts to mobile width, supports swipe-to-close, is thumb-friendly, and is performance-tuned to keep your Lighthouse mobile score intact.
Does it support Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay inside the cart?

How do AI upsells decide what to recommend?
Cartylabs analyzes cart contents, the shopper's browse history, and store-wide co-purchase patterns to surface the offer most likely to be added. You can also manually curate offers by collection, product, or rule.
How well do AI upsells convert?

Sticky cart & quick buy
How do I skip the cart page and go straight to checkout?
For both desktop and mobile: Sticky Bar → Button Settings → Actions → Go to Checkout. The sticky button and quick-buy buttons each have the same option.
What's the difference between sticky bar and sticky button?
The sticky bar spans the full width with product info and a CTA. The sticky button is a compact floating button that appears when shoppers scroll past the original add-to-cart.
What is the mini cart badge counter?
A small badge on the cart icon showing the number of items added. It nudges shoppers back to the cart and lifts conversion for return visitors.
Does the browser-tab badge work in every browser?
It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Opera (~81% of global traffic). Safari and IE don't allow favicon updates after page load.
Why isn't my sticky button showing for one product?
Make sure the feature is enabled for both desktop and mobile, then wait 1-2 minutes after saving. If it still doesn't appear, email support@cartylabs.com with the product URL — we'll integrate with your theme for free.

Will it work with my Shopify theme?
Yes. The cart drawer and sticky bar are tested against 150+ Shopify themes including Dawn, Impulse, Prestige, Symmetry, Stiletto, and all popular Shopify Plus themes. Checkout extensions run inside Shopify's native checkout, so theme compatibility doesn't apply there. If you hit an issue, we integrate with your theme for free.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes — every feature is mobile-first. Cart drawer, sticky bar, rewards, quick-buy buttons, checkout extensions, and post-purchase pages are all designed for touch and tested on iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and every modern desktop browser.
Can I preview changes before going live?
Yes. Cart and storefront changes have a side-by-side WYSIWYG preview. Checkout extensions have a live preview in the Shopify Checkout Editor. Post-purchase pages have a live drag-and-drop builder.
Will this work with my custom storefront or headless Shopify?
Cartylabs integrates via Shopify App Embed and native Checkout Extensibility, which work with any storefront that uses Shopify's checkout and cart API. Do I need Shopify Plus?
No. Cart drawer, sticky bar, AI upsells, post-purchase upsells, and most checkout extensions work on every Shopify plan with Checkout Extensibility (Basic and above). Plus unlocks checkout branding (custom CSS, unlimited branding profiles, advanced scripts).
Can I test this on a development store first?
Yes. Install Cartylabs on your dev store, toggle on the features you want, and use Shopify's native preview tooling. We recommend a final check on your live store once configured.

Will Cartylabs slow down my store?

Is there a free plan or free trial?
Both. There is a permanent Free plan with payment icons, social badges, and order notes — no trial needed. Pro and Plus plans include a 7-day free trial with full access to premium features. No credit card required to start.
How does the Growth plan pricing work?
$9.99/month flat, plus $0.05 per order up to 2,000 orders per cycle. After 2,000 orders, additional orders are free.
Is there a setup fee or usage-based billing?
No setup fees and no usage-based charges on Pro/Plus. You pay a flat monthly rate — whether you process 100 orders or 100,000, your bill stays the same. The Free plan is free forever.
How does the free trial work?
7 days of full access to all Pro features. No credit card needed to start. If you don't upgrade before the trial ends, you'll automatically move to the Free plan.
What happens to my settings if I cancel?
All your configurations (rules, conditions, branding profiles, post-purchase pages) are preserved. If you resubscribe later, everything will still be there. Nothing is deleted.
How am I billed?
Through Shopify's native billing API. Cartylabs appears as a line item on your regular Shopify invoice. Cancel anytime from your Shopify admin in one click.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime; the change takes effect on your next billing cycle.
Do you offer refunds?
